Skins!

In the image above it shows a representation of Youths today. 'Skins' the programme contains many of the above. Sex, violence, sexual activity, smoking and binge drinking are all present in the Tv programme. The picture denotates youth of both genders looking rather rough. The connotes that they have been on a night out, maybe drinking, smoking and taking drugs. The background of the image looks as if they are out on the street maybe in an estate (somewhere they are not supposed to be)

TV Vocabulary

Mise-en-scene
'Realistic' technique whereby meaning is conveyed through the relationship of things visible within a single shot (rather than, as with montage, the relationship between shots). An attempt is preserve space and time as much as possible; editing or fragmenting of scenes is minimised. Composition is therefore extremely important. The way people stand and move in relation to each other is important. Long shots and long takes are characteristic.

Verisimilitude
Well strangely, it means what is sounds like it means that something is 'very similar', and relates to how similar this thing is to it. I first heard it used when described in relation to theatre setting and acting, where the goal of the performance or the set of the play was the appearance of realism, and this for me is a central meaning of the word. The dictionary calls it the appearance of truth or semblance of truth. Someone might criticise the actor's verisimilitude, their performance lacked truth, lacked the relationship to the truth of life, from the perspective of the audience. The word derives from the Latin word which means very similar to the truth. It can also mean the 'quality of seeming true' which is also a nice way of thinking about it.Acting is simply a process of bringing verisimilitude to the stage, using other people's words.

Social Realism
Social Realism, also known as Socio-Realism, is an artistic movement, expressed in the visual and other realist arts, which depicts social and racial injustice, economic hardship, through unvarnished pictures of life's struggles; often depicting working class activities as heroic. The movement is a style of painting in which the scenes depicted typically convey a message of social or political protest edged with satire. This is not to be confused with Socialist Realism, the official USSR art form that institutionalized Joseph Stalin in 1934 and later allied Communist parties worldwide.

Diegetic Sound
Non-Digetic Sound is the source that is neither visible or present in the shot. These sources include; a narrator's commentary, sound affects which has been added for dramatic affect and/or mood music where non-digetic sound if represented when coming from outside the shot.

Editing
Editing a TV drama is correcting, consending and organising the different shots so it runs smoothly. It also can include editing sound into the scene and putting it into its appropriate form.Final Cut Pro is a software used on an apple Mac to edit. Here is a picture to show the layout of editing shots.
